A Trip to Macieo!

Last Thursday, Lee and I made a trip to Macieo, which is around 3 hours south of Recife.

Since we had moved the School of the Bible in Boa Viagem, Recife to the church building, we had an abundance of chairs with tables. We loaded a trailer, and took some of them to the team in Macieo!

Lee's brother, uncle, and their families are on the mission team there. They had been meeting in a school building for worship service, but recently rented a building, and even started a School of the Bible, which already has some students!

Please pray for the success of the Church of Christ in Macieo, and for the School of the Bible!

Church at the Orphanage!

On Sunday, October 12, we had our first worship service at the Mana of the Lord camp / orphanage!

We have had many devotionals at the camp, but this was the actual planting of a church there!

Several of the men led the worship, including Maciel, the director of the orphanage!

Randy Short gave us the message!

Lee and I had told the children the day before that we would be having church service there, and asked them to come. A few of them came for services, but several more came after the service.

Lee and I are planning to start encouraging these children to come to church, and pray that their parents will also begin to come as well!

Please pray for the parents of these children to begin worshipping with the church there, and that the church will grow!

This is where the future church building will be! It is inside the orphanage / camp area. These walls have actually been there a while, but now there is a vision to complete the walls, add a concrete floor, a roof, doors, windows, etc.!

Procrescer (Project Growth)

On Saturday, October 11, we restarted having our weekly classes for the Procrescer children. After all the work we have been doing on the church building, it was great to start having the classes again.

Lee had a devotional, teaching them a lesson from Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and knowledge."
Her focus was on wisdom and knowledge. She even taught the children the word in Greek!

Teaching from the Bible is the main focus for the Procrescer children, but we also have a course in English for them!

Children's Day

Here in Brazil, on October 12, there is a holiday called "Dia das Criancas," or "Children's Day." It is a day honoring children and is somewhat like Christmas, as in where the parents buy presents for their children.

On Saturday Oct. 11, Lee and I celebrated the day with the children at the camp. Lee had the idea of buying each child a cup and filling it with candy and cookies.

Lee told me the reason for the cup was because at the children's school, there is only one cup for all of them. She wanted them to have their own cup for school.

We played games with the children, colored and made animal mask. Afterwards, one of the children led a prayer, then we gave them a snack and their cups of candy.

On Sunday, October 12, the church had a party for the children there after services! They had hot dogs, cake, and other snacks, and they all received a present, which was a box of candy!

Lee Barros!

I know that a lot of you are excited about the news of Lee and me being engaged! I figured it was time for you to meet her, at least thru pictures!

This is a picture of Lee preparing for one of the many activities that she helps to organize. She really enjoys planning activites and decorating for them!

This is a picture of Lee and I at the Zoo. We had a day at the Zoo with the PROCRESCER children that we work with on Saturdays!

Lee made the design for these shirts, and had them made up for us and each of the children! Lee is also blessed with the gift of art! She loves to paint, and make designs!

This is a picture of Lee with the kids at the camp that we also work with. As you can see, they really love having her around!

And here is a nice photo of the happy couple! We had this picture taken on one of our trips to Lee's hometown of Garanhuns!

As I said before, you can meet Lee through her pictures now, but one day you will meet her, and her sweet personality, in person!

A New Start!

Well, as you can see, I have done a complete overhaul of my blog site! I am no longer on a journey from Nashville to Brasil. My journey now continues as I have joined the work that God is already doing here in Brasil!
