Children's Day

Here in Brazil, on October 12, there is a holiday called "Dia das Criancas," or "Children's Day." It is a day honoring children and is somewhat like Christmas, as in where the parents buy presents for their children.

On Saturday Oct. 11, Lee and I celebrated the day with the children at the camp. Lee had the idea of buying each child a cup and filling it with candy and cookies.

Lee told me the reason for the cup was because at the children's school, there is only one cup for all of them. She wanted them to have their own cup for school.

We played games with the children, colored and made animal mask. Afterwards, one of the children led a prayer, then we gave them a snack and their cups of candy.

On Sunday, October 12, the church had a party for the children there after services! They had hot dogs, cake, and other snacks, and they all received a present, which was a box of candy!
